Optical Solutions for Home Networks offers the company Homefibre , winner of the Innovation and Research Award of Carinthia, 2008, on this fast growing market.
On 03 March 2009 our department was interesting visit: Two employees of the company Homefibre (Josef Faller by management and our graduate Manuel El Tohamy informed), students and pupils of the fourth and fifth graders on a new method of data transmission, the copper may be replace in the near future. POF (Polymer Optical Fibre ) called the new technology to be transferred to the data by using light waves.
The POF technology has many advantages, such as: the simple installation of the cable parallel to electrical installation, stability and low power consumption. In addition, the transfer is radiation-free and bug-proof.
The lecture was for the students a perfect complement and knowledge in the practical demonstration amazed even the teachers.
